Supporting our Local Community

As part of our work at the Nu ENT & Face Institute, all of us at the Facial Surgery & Aesthetics Center are actively involved in giving back. As a healthcare provider, we believe it is our responsibility to provide access to care to all members of our community. We primarily do this through our One-Day-a-Month (ODAM) Project. One day a month we provide free treatment for ENT related medical issues to the underserved and underinsured members of our community, no questions asked.

History of One-Day-a-Month

Dr. Menachof has always made giving back a priority of his medical career. During the past 20 years his office has participated in and supported programs such as Children’s Hospital Colorado, Wounded Warrior Foundation, Adam’s Camp, the American Heart Association, Doctors Care, the Kendall and Taylor Atkinson Foundation, The National Guard, the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer and the Colorado Neurological Institute.

Despite widespread participation in local and national philanthropy programs, Dr. Menachof always had a strong desire to find a way to offer the health care services of his practice to help those who wouldn’t otherwise have access to it. In 2014, Dr. Menachof decided to make this dream a reality. His daughter, who was beginning medical school residency, said she knew of a clinic that provided free services to local underserved populations. Dr. Menachof contacted the medical director of Salud Family Health Centers to see if a partnership could be formed. Little did he know Salud had many patients who suffered from ENT related issues with very little means to help correct those issues. The relationship between Advanced ENT Denver and Salud Family Health Centers was formed.

Starting in 2015, Facial Surgery & Aesthetics Center began to provide ENT, allergy, hearing loss and some aesthetic services to patients who could not afford them. We set aside one full day each month to treat patients free of charge, no questions asked.

On our first One-Day-a-Month Project we saw 18 patients. We currently see close to 80 patients on these days and the program has helped over 1000 patients to date, performed 47 surgeries and donated over $750,000 of health care services.

One-Day-a-Month’s Continued Growth

Our passion, increased awareness and partnerships with organizations like Tepeyac Clinic have contributed to this growth. Salud Family Health Centers and Tepeyac Clinic work diligently with our team each month to find patients who would benefit from our services. We do not receive government subsidies for this work however, over the years we have been able to partner with some great organizations that provide medicines, lab work, and places to do surgery for these patients. It takes a huge team of devoted individuals to make our One-Day-a-Month Project a success. We are grateful for the generous support of Salud Family Health Centers, Tepeyac Clinic, Crown Point Surgical Center, Entellus Medical, Touchstone Imaging Dry Creek, Karl Storz Endoscopy, Olympus America, Mylan Pharmaceuticals and Anthony Products for partnering with us in this endeavor.

The Future of One-Day-a-Month

Dr. Menachof dreams of growing the One-Day-A-Month Project into a core part of his medical practice that can sustain itself even after his medical career is over. To achieve this ambitious goal, we will need to raise awareness within the community, solicit the help of likeminded medical providers and industry partners, and continue to make giving back a priority of our company culture and long term goals.

Last October, our ENT clinic hosted an awareness event where they performed 35 Balloon Sinuplasty procedures (including two free surgeries from our ODAM patient base) in seven days, which was a feat! Part of the proceeds from the 35 surgeries went towards ODAM to help fund the project. The awareness and great feedback we got from that event has sparked us to do a similar event in the future.

Making Patient’s Everyday Live’s Better

At Facial Surgery & Aesthetics Center our mission is “Making our Patient’s Everyday Lives’ Better”, and we believe this extends beyond patients who can afford our services. Everyone in our Colorado community deserves the chance to live a comfortable, healthy life and the One-Day-A-Month project gives us an opportunity to live out this goal. We strive to help improve the quality of life for these patients and, in return, they remind us why helping others and giving back to our community is so important.
